Recipient Charity & Final Tally

Congratulations to Fill The Bus for being the Recipient Charity! Together, we raised $18,000 in our Q1/17 event!

Fill The Bus is a program under the YMCA of Oakville, which helps send kids in need to summer camp. Last year, more than 1,800 people in Oakville turned to them for help. They were single parent families, families with low incomes or families that had fallen on hard times and needed transitional support due to illness, crisis or loss of employment. These families, and many others, can’t afford to give their children opportunities that other kids have; experiences that can help them grow up to be happy, healthy and confident. Camp remains one of the few place where kids can just be kids. Where they learn valuable life and leadership skills, get the chance to explore, meet new friends and build confidence and make memories that last a lifetime. It’s not just about a week at summer camp. It’s about opening up a whole new world of opportunity for kids, giving them the confidence to believe in themselves and their future — regardless of what they have today.

It was great to come out to meet Kyle, Janet, Andy and many other volunteers, and to learn more about this great Program. Our donation will give 90 kids the opportunity to attend camp this summer. We'll be sure to get them out to our next event to meet all the guys and give us an update.

Thanks to a Great Group of Guys!

Our Q1/17 Event was another phenomenal success! It was great to have Ron Shantz come out and tell us about FrontLine Outreach and how they used our group donation from our last event. We also had the pleasure of having Chantal Ingram of United Way Oakville talk about the many needs in our community. HUGE thanks to our event sponsor MVL Leasing for not only providing us with an awesome venue and tasty nibbles - they also donated $1,000 to our tally! A special shout out to PMA Canada who supplied us with Tyskie beer for our event. Also a special thanks to our dedicated volunteers, including Andrew Sue-A-Quan, Mel Hum and Rob Ruso & sons for holding down the registration desk.
